There’s an excellent piece of journalism online (on Ensia‘s website, to be exact, which is an environmentally-focused magazine based out of the University of Minnesota) about the ubiquitous plastic pollution in our oceans, and what is being done about it. The most salient point for me was that five out of the top six trash items collected in a 2014 worldwide beach trash clean up were food related:
- Food wrappers
- Bottle caps
- Beverage bottles
- (Cigarette butts)
